Welcoming Spring at the April Open Mic

IMG_20170417_203228On Monday, April 17, a good time was had by all as the DC Cabaret Network hosted its first Spring open mic at The Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan.  As always, we were warmly welcomed by The Black Squirrel and their bartender “Alexander the Great,” so self described.

Jill Parsons was on hand to very capably coordinate the sound and Howard Breitbart was at the piano, adding his masterful and inspiring accompaniments to the proceedings.

We had a great turn out of singers – 5 men & 5 women – sharing terrific, varied, and often quite challenging songs. See the list of songs and singers below and please be sure to join us for our next open mic, also at The Black Squirrel, on Monday, May 8.

Between blacksquirrelnow and then, we hope to see you at the 3rd installment of the DCCN’s “4@4” on Sunday, April 30th at 4 pm, upstairs on the third floor at – where else? – The Black Squirrel.  4 singers – Michael Miyazaki, Shannon Polly, Christy Trapp & Tracy Simpson – will each offer 20 minutes of song, directed by Lonny Smith and musically directed by Jeff Hamlin.
