A CHEERY WARMTH OF INDIAN SUMMER AT THE OCTOBER OPEN MIC

A beautiful Indian Summer evening wafted into The Black Squirrel, bringing fun spirits and a glow of merriment to our October Open Mic. Hosted by Treasurer of the Board, Steven Cupo, the night was full of hilarious gaffes, glitches and off-color moments that made everyone relaxed and very jolly. All were thankful that hugely talented music director, Howard Breitbart, added much sparkle to our fizz. Our man in charge of audio, Jeff Tucker, got a good work out with uncooperative microphone cords, but all was righted in the end. Richard Dew was a trooper when the sound left him in the middle of his song. He was rewarded by having a chance to re-sing it later in the evening; sparking the comment that it was a Richard “re-Dew”. Johnny Mercer seemed to be the composer of the night, as Board member Cindy Hutchins sang a sexy, smoky version of his “I Thought About You”. New comer Rachel Leanza did a lovely rendition of “Manhattan”, while our beautiful Beverly Cosham gave us her all with a funny and haunting “Why Can’t I Forget?” It really was one of the most entertaining Open Mics we have had; full of a hilarity and, of course, great music.
Please join us for our November Open Mic on Monday, November 9th at 8:00. See you then!
