December Open Mic — A Chance to Give Back

totbannerThe DC Cabaret Network is “giving back” for the month of December.  At our December Open Mic on Monday, December 15th, we’re asking singers to bring a toy for the Toys for Tots campaign sponsored by the U.S. Marines.  Bring an unwrapped toy — for a child of any age — and you can get in the Open Mic for just $10.00.  Open your hearts. Bring a toy.  And then, sing!

michael-and-ron-21 Michael Miyazaki and Ron Squiri will be hosting the evening,  and promise a few holiday surprises! Mary Sugar is our pianist for the evening.

The Open Mic will be at the Warehouse Theater, located at  1021 7th Street, NW, across from the new Convention Center. Metro: Mt. Vernon Square on the yellow and green lines.

We hope to see you there.

Sheet Music Collection at the University of South Carolina

We discovered this cool new website at USC from reading the Scout Report (thanks Scout!).

The University of South Carolina Music Library has an extensive collection of over 10,000 pieces of popular, sacred, and classical sheet music that can be easily searched, due to the digital sheet music project on the School of Music website. Note that this includes popular music as well!

You can search by song title, composer, lyricist, etc. For music in the public domain, they provide full images of the music. Great way to find that older tune you’ve been looking for, save a little cash, or discover older gems that might round out your cabaret show. Enjoy!
