A great time at the DC Cabaret Network Potluck!

The DC Cabaret Network wants to thank all of the members and their guests who attended our potluck party on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Thanks go to Board member Emily Leatha Everson for hosting this terrific event in her Arlington home (well, hers and Charlie’s, and Mo’s, and Eloise’s). We think it was a pretty swell party, and if you weren’t there, well you missed a good time.

The DC Cabaret Network awarded certificates of appreciation to Michael Miyazaki, Ron Squeri, Kathy Reilly, and Mike Repass for their support and assistance to the Network over the past year.  The coveted Boa d’Or honors were awarded to Justin Ritchie and Matt Howe for their work on the Network’s membership database and member support, respectively. Congratulations to our honorees and to all the members of the DC Cabaret Network who have a vested interest in the growth and presentation of this wonderful art form.

December Open Mic — A Chance to Give Back

totbannerThe DC Cabaret Network is “giving back” for the month of December.  At our December Open Mic on Monday, December 15th, we’re asking singers to bring a toy for the Toys for Tots campaign sponsored by the U.S. Marines.  Bring an unwrapped toy — for a child of any age — and you can get in the Open Mic for just $10.00.  Open your hearts. Bring a toy.  And then, sing!

michael-and-ron-21 Michael Miyazaki and Ron Squiri will be hosting the evening,  and promise a few holiday surprises! Mary Sugar is our pianist for the evening.

The Open Mic will be at the Warehouse Theater, located at  1021 7th Street, NW, across from the new Convention Center. Metro: Mt. Vernon Square on the yellow and green lines.

DC Cabaret Network featured in current Cabaret Scenes magazine

A two-page article profiling the DC Cabaret Network appears in the current issue of Cabaret Scenes magazine. Written by DC Cabaret Network member Michael Miyazaki, the article gives some of the history of the Network and describes the current activities of the organization. And the headline “DC Cabaret Network” even appears on the cover of the magazine.

This is a particular honor for the DC Cabaret Network as this is the first profile of a regional cabaret organization that the publication has featured — ahead of profiles of our counterparts in Chicago , California, and Boston .

The current issue can be ordered from Cabaret Scenes either as part of a subscription or as a single issue @ www.cabaretscenes.org.

Cabaret Scenes, in print since 1996, is the magazine of record for the U.S cabaret scene, with correspondents in New York City , Boston , Chicago , Las Vegas , Los Angeles , Palm Springs , Philadelphia/New Hope and Washington , DC . In addition to publishing performances reviews from across the country, each issue features interviews with cabaret professionals (performers, songwriters, club owners), CD reviews, music al theater reviews, and “Spotlight On” stories about clubs and cabaret organizations around the country.
